Portrait of the owner

Born Bergerac's region, where his parents had a 32 acres wine property, he has learned the work of vine and wine in the respect of tradition and nature.

Just at the end of his studies, he enters in Château Mouton Rothschild, where he will work for 17 vintage wines. He obtains three times the 100/100 mark in the Wine Spectator newspaper (1982, 1986 and 1998). At the same moment, he sets up the « Opus One » project, a partnership between Château Mouton Rotschild and Mondavi (US).

Then, he works for three years in Baron Philippe de Rotschild's Commercial to promote export wines.

After this, he sets in Saint-Emilion, where he takes care of the technical aspects of the « Union of Saint-Emilion's producers » cellar : he organizes the renovation and modernization of facilities to improve the wines' quality.

Along with his professional activity,

In 2005, Bertrand Bourdil fulfills his dream: he acquires the small Chérubin's vineyard, situated on the south-west side of Saint-Emilion's hill, close to Château Angelus' and many classified vintage wines' wineyards: Grand Maine, Clos des Jacobins... From the very beginning, he associates his two daughters to this adventure. Since then, his partner Magali, oenologist, and his son Clément joined them.

This project is therefore built by men and women, lovers of the earth, with solid expertise on wine and its marketing. By drawing its strength in the exceptional quality of its terroir and the common willingness of a family, Château Chérubin is destined to a long life.
